Why digital inclusion matters

Everyday life is going online.
Everyone deserves a way in.

Booking an appointment. Applying for a job. Keeping in touch. Without digital access, skills or confidence, everyday tasks can become obstacles.

Digital inclusion is about more than owning a device. It means being able to use technology safely, confidently and in a way that works for you.

Wigan Digital Learning helps people build practical skills through patient teaching and time to practise. Where a device or connection is the barrier, talk to us about your starting point so we can discuss a realistic next step.

Take our digital inclusion survey

What would help you feel more confident online?

Tell us which digital courses and practical assistance would make a difference to you, what gets in the way, and how you would prefer to learn.

You can take part without giving your name or contact details. Taking part does not commit you to a course or sign you up to marketing.

Prefer paper? Download the printable questionnaire (PDF) and return it to the person or venue collecting responses.

Working together in Wigan

Local support.
A wider welcome.

Digital confidence grows when support is close to home.

We want to work with community groups, local venues and organisations to reach people who may not take the first step on their own.

Can you offer a welcoming space, help people hear about sessions, or discuss funded learning? We would like to hear from you.

Discuss a community partnership

Our approach

  1. Listen first

Start with the person, their goals and the barriers they face.

  2. Make it practical

Use real-life tasks and clear language, with room for questions.

  3. Build independence

Practise together so the next step feels more manageable.

Community sessions are being developed. Please enquire for current availability.
